5 Simple Steps for Stress-FREE Wedding Planning!

Let’s face it, planning a wedding can be extremely overwhelming! Leading up to the day, the day of, and sometimes even after you’ve said goodbye to your last guest, there are so many stressors! But stress doesn't have to rule your wedding planning! So I’ve compiled a list of my top 5 ways to combat the stress of wedding planning, so you can focus on what really matters - marrying your BEST friend!

Staying Organized

With piles of contracts, wedding inspiration, magazines, fabric swatches, and checklists accumulating it will start to end up creating a wedding warzone rather than a happy home. How you keep your space will help avoid a possible meltdown. Organization is key during your wedding planning stage so keeping a list of all your potential venues and vendors will help you stay on top. The way you keep your surroundings can greatly affect your mood, so try to maintain everything in a tidy and organized fashion (and misplacing important documents or contracts) to avoid a potential fiasco closer your wedding date.

Choosing the right vendor team

If you’re going it alone, you will definitely want to do your research, read reviews, and sit down with any vendor before signing any contracts or making any big decisions. If you’re hiring a wedding planner, they will most likely be equipped with a list of preferred vendors. Making a connection to a reputable and trust worthy vendor is a cinch once you find the right people. Choosing the right vendor team should be easy when you know where to start. There are many platforms that vendors can be found, such as The Knot or WeddingWire. Word of mouth can get you so far, but simply asking a wedding vendor for a list of their preferred vendors in the industry can also set you up for success when tackling it on your own.

Delegate the Tasks

Giving your friends and family members a few of your more tedious tasks ensures you are not doing this alone. Even the biggest control freaks can always use a helping hand once in a while. When it comes to planning a wedding, divvy out even the littlest of tasks to those closest to you. Even if theres some monotonous tasks, like stuffing envelops or packing the wedding favors. Just know you are not doing this alone, and there should be nothing holding you back from asking for help. This will aid you and open up your schedule even just a little bit so you can focus on the important stuff.

Take a break

It’s easy to get caught up in the wedding planning stage and allow it to take over your life. Giving yourself regular breaks from scrolling through vendor profiles or creating countless Pinterest boards of inspiration can allow the mind to relax. Allow yourself to try something new instead of getting caught up or stressing about the wedding woes. There are many stress-relieving exercises, such as yoga or cycling, or even just going on a walk. Allowing yourself to get your sweat on will get your mind off of your wedding and coax your body into producing endorphins. Keeping your mind and body in focus whilst allowing yourself to relax well help you feel rejuvenated and ready to dive back in the wedding planning process and crush those goals.

Put things into Perspective

Remember why you are putting yourself through this process. When tensions are high, take a step back and look at the bigger picture; marrying your best friend. Remind yourself why you are putting in all this hard work. When it comes down to it, no matter what cake you choose, or the dresses your bridesmaids pick out, all that matters at the end of the day is saying your “I dos".
